Their is something quite beautiful about legislative foresight.You get a front row view of the thing you knew was going to happen and yet when it happens multiple times you are not allowed off the train no matter how bad it gets as long as legislators can weather the complaints we continue suffering

The problem with digital ID or age verification laws isn't the tech,it's the infrastructure and the people who control it. The most egalitarian administration could operate it,but it takes one autocratic to abuse us into submission with it. That's why no one wants either to have it. It's a time bomb

Reddit has been pushing for more accredited professionals to answer stuff (basically what Quora tried back in the day) .

And like Quora they miss the fact accredited professionals make more money doing the thing they are accredited for than answering funny internet questions for the cheap.

Techno-optimism required options,opt in measures, a regulated tech sector and trust.

No one who has seen what these companies do with your data trusts them.

It's not hysteria,it's reasonable,if not absolutely sanity to not trust these companies or governments. 500k+ signatures ignored, 2.7m+ signatures ignored. It is no longer required to operate assuming good faith. Given the chance to vocalize their support they have opted to ignore and continue.

It's the techno-optimism of the 2010's when companies sold us and I mean sold us the idea tech can cure any and every problem. We just need to give up a lot of data to refine it.

After 2 decades of companies abusing us, heaven forbid we do not trust this snakes with even more data points.

I do not trust these systems,not even in a tinfoil hat Way,I just don't trust any government with access to this much data.

With the whole paypros thing,I get antsy when centralized systems with opaque rules is the vanguard for change. Chat control has also soured any trust in many nation states.
