Greetings! I am D. Gabrielle Jensen, author of urban fantasy with a rock and roll spin, as well as some contemporary fiction and beat/slam poetry. Childless cat lady who loves cities and good coffee. I crochet, make jewelry, and dabble in urban macro photography.
Name an actor you think has an iconic voice

This game is a bit of a sausage fest so far so I submit for your approval the inimitable Ms. Eartha Kitt

Lately, I am finding more and more instances in which "Thou mayest consume a satchel of Richards," feels like the appropriate response.

Anyone else have a cat (orange, if it helps) who R E F U S E S to step on blankets? It's usually the fluffly fleecy ones that bug her but recently she's developed an aversion to my afghan.

Weirdo.

Greg Corner: We need more streams to get venues interested in a [Kill Hannah] reunion.

I just hit shuffle. Spotify understood the assignment.

Finally checked in with the new season of Fire Country and I might have a hard time moving forward. I like the show okay but really only watched it for Billy Burke and then they added the latest all-purpose, fits anywhere villain Sean Hatosy to the mix. 🥱 Michael Trucco was bad enough.

Just looked at a photo of Kegsbreath and for a second all my idiot brain could come up with was Temu Patrick Swayze and that will be who he is from now going forward.

What I inferred on my own: Karma is a bitch?

One of my favorite things about cats is their enthusiastic willingness to help Look™️even when they don't know what we're looking for. Open a cabinet for longer than a minute? There's the cat. Down on the floor with a flashlight? There's the cat. Eager and willing to help.

#bookvember day 5: Children's poetry. I already mentioned the wit and wisdom of Shel Silverstein. I honestly couldn't tell you how I discovered his work. My 3rd grade class recited Little Peggy Ann McKay for a school assembly; that may have been the catalyst. 🤷‍♀️ #booksky #writesky

UGH I opened up Threads and the whole feed (until I stopped scrolling, which admittedly wasn't long) was about how NYC screwed up and they are praying for New York and blah blah blah. This is why I avoid all things Meta.

#bookvember Day 4 Non-fiction . . . TBH I read from the World Book Encyclopedia as much as anything else. That's where I read the Greek myths. Plus, our edition of the encyclopedias had a cool layered diagram of the human body printed on clear acetate pages. #booksky

#Bookvember Day 3: I would say the one that has stuck with me the longest would have to be Shel Silverstein. There was, is a great deal of wisdom buried in all that absurdity.

#Bookvember Day 2: I didn't read a lot of "children's" books; I kind of just skipped ahead to the bigger ones. But I did read a lot of the Baby-Sitters Club, Amelia Bedelia, Pippi Longstockings . . . I think the prevailing theme there is quirky, independent, and sassy women. #booksky #writesky

Ooh something new . . . #bookvember Day 1: I am D. Gabrielle Jensen and I have been enjoying stories since I was born, reading since I was about 3, and writing since I was about 6. So I really don't know HOW it all started, just that it's always been part of who I am.

My favorite hot take is that folks receiving gov't bennies shouldn't have luxuries because there's a whole host of ways to get those things without paying a lot of money. You can lease an iPhone from Verizon for like $10 a month. You can trade services for acrylic nails, tattoos, or fancy hair. 🧵 1/
