Our goal was that our kids not be the ones teaching the swear words to the other kids on the playground. I think we succeeded in that.

They are 16+ now and well beyond our ability to have much control of their media consumption.

I am sad that I missed a chance to try to work in your org. I'll see about improving my job post alerts.

I want my personal jetpack, and my subway under the ocean with a glass tunnel roof so I can see the sharks.

It is heartening both that the AP waited until the polls closed to call it, and that the AP feels the result is so overwhelming to call it the instant the polls close.

I wasn't willing to risk it and signed up for ACA, which in 2025 provided roughly the same benefit at roughly the same cost as the COBRA plan had.

I'd hoped to receive the Cal-COBRA letter in October, but alas. The prior employer's plan doesn't qualify for Cal-COBRA, for one reason or another.

Our access to the regular COBRA plan ended 9/30/2025.

It turns out to be impossible to find out in advance if Cal-COBRA will extend it another 18 months past the end of the regular COBRA, you just let it expire and wait to see if they send a letter within 30 days.

...and so much of the world handles this so much more effectively. Maddening.
