The frustration: the expense & the lack of clarity & purpose on the mission to deploy at home.

There is no purpose other than power. This is not ok.

If you want to put back statues and memorials and names of Confederate traitors while tearing down museum exhibitions on slavery because they don't show the greatness of the nation... the nation whose history you're celebrating is whiteness. The kind of nationalist you are is a white nationalist.

As promised, in light of the WaPo report of Everglades camp detainees being swarmed by mosquitoes in the shower and unable to sleep at night due to being bitten, I want to briefly address concentration camp history and mosquitoes. I won't be comprehensive but will give a few examples. [1/17]

Philosophy professor & US Citizen Jonathan Caravello has been brutally detained & effectively disappeared for trying to help a legal observer remove a teargas canister from under their wheelchair during an ICE raid on a California farm.

…is a sentence I've now had to write. What… in the actual fuck

Remember when the Trump admin tried to shut down the Social Security call line — falsely claiming 40% of callers were “fraudsters”?

Now they’re scrambling to fix it, because millions of Americans rely on it.

You can’t gut a vital agency and then pretend to care when it breaks.

The agency, which serves 73 million beneficiaries, has struggled to improve customer service amid cutbacks, long wait times and a crashing website.

Gimme that old time tree-plantin' politics.

Planting trees was good enough for the jobs program serving my Okie ancestors during the Depression.
evkelly.bsky.social
One of the more maddening things that emerged during this week’s DC trip was that apparently Noem doesn’t approve of FEMA disaster prevention $$$ being used to plant trees. Trees are one of the cheapest AND most effective flood mitigation tools that exists, esp. in areas with mining/logging damage
samlmontano.bsky.social
I do not know how disaster survivors will ever make it through recovery in this administration — many couldn’t do it when there were people who cared in power— it’s infinitely worse now.

Trump promised he'd target "criminal" immigrants. Instead of pursuing gangbangers and drug-dealers, he's rounding up grandmas, gardeners, cancer-stricken kids, construction workers.
He's stripping those here *legally* of their documents.
Even some GOP lawmakers have now begun to criticize him:

🚨 The Senate budget bill lets the government detain immigrant families indefinitely in unlicensed facilities.

This is a direct threat to children’s health and safety. Congress must reject this cruelty. 📢 Tell Congress: NO on the budget bill. youthlaw.org/voteno
