I’ve started down the path of becoming a narrative painter. My paintings are dreams or manifestations of poems and myths. This particular painting is of the Greek goddess of the moon, Selene. Its crescent shape is suggestive of a partial moon reflecting the sun’s light. #artist #oilpainter #myth
Six year old Sofia Holynska was walking with her mother in Chernihiv when a Russian missile killed her. I’ve painted her portrait in tribute and hope to give it to her parents. Contact has been made through intermediaries, but I don’t know if they have read the email yet. #ukraine

ICE terrorizes our communities. People protest, and now Trump is sending 2,000 National Guard troops into Los Angeles. This is how martial law begins in the so-called land of the free.

For those of us who’ve spend the last 6 months discussing how the Trump would use deportations to create chaos is the Blue states and then use that chaos as an excuse to declare a national emergency and seize total power, things are right on schedule.

I had a fun night at Phipps Center for the Arts in Hudson Wisconsin last night. Two of my paintings are on display there for a month.

We’re arriving at a time when families are starting to ponder their plans for self defense or escape, if needed.

He will burn down whatever he can, however he can

Our systems of governance, rule of law, global alliances, even the Constitution.

Consumed by vengeance and greed, he is the greatest threat to our Republic since its founding.

We must meet this moment with the force of a thousand suns.

Or perish.

I have never seen a bigger crisis or a darker, more foreboding time, than what we are facing now.

Is this app going to crop my paintings? I did this panoramic study of a north country marsh the other day. It is 5” x 12” #artist

At least where I live, the land is now gray and brown, but earlier this spring the meadows were ablaze with wildflowers. So I painted this scene from an early morning when I was out at the break of day. #art inquiries are welcome

Where is the #art on this site? I want to see skillfully rendered drawings and paintings and engage in dialogue with my fellow artists

I painted this lovely young model at a workshop about six months ago with the ever prolific portrait painter Tim Rees. There were several highly regarded painters in the class but I think I held my own. #figurativeart #nudeart

My painting “In The Penumbra” is really about what’s in the shadows. If you look closely, there is a secondary shadow of a female figure posing with the flowers. #flowerpainting #oilpainting #artist

I’m giving this portrait to my niece today. The baby is her son and she has no idea that I’ve done this. The frame is vintage from the 1920’s

As a follow-up, this is the finished #oilpainting I contributed to our lake association. It made several hundred dollars in their auction and they were very appreciative

Just finishing up this #oilpainting #portrait of my parents. They’re in their 80’s and the reference photo that I painted from was taken about ten years ago now.

Me: You’re cleaning out the basement?

Her: Yes I am decluttering my life. I have a new rule: If I haven’t used it in 3 months, I’m getting rid of it.

Me: I guess I’ll be packing my bags then.
