I have been a lawyer, a novelist, a playwright, a poet, a comedian, and some of those things I still am, sort-of. Half Aussie. Half Newfie. All Canadian. Pretty far left. Have 2 grown sons. One husband. One dog. Part of a horse. Also: old (over 65).
I told myself this Xmas morning that I wouldn't Doomscroll-On-The-Bluesky, but here I am - and I was rewarded with this, which made me LOL good and proper. So now I am going to figure out how long the turkey needs to cook. MERRY CHRISTMAS and Season's Greetings to all of us!
Extremely funny to call the pope “holier-than-thou”

A FB friend posted that she had a blind date with a guy who is really nice. They talked for hours. But he's a trumper and antivaxxer. She asked if she should keep dating him. A horrifying number of her friends said sure, why not? This is in canada! I always knew this gal wasn't that bright but wow.

Okay, I thought his rob reiner post was the height of bad shit crazy. But this is like wow...

I wonder if there's any chance he's really some sort of evil genius. And he's trolling us? I mean this can't be real.

Frankly we're pretty heartbroken but we are still hoping somehow you guys will get out of this without taking the rest of the world down.
I’m an American. That said, I agree with you.

I’m so sorry you are living next to an insane asylum.

You dumb fuck, Denmark settled Greenland in like 982 or something. And the USA didn't even exist 300 years ago. AND...national protection from who? Russia?

FFS somebody just get this guy to the locked ward at the seniors' facility before more people believe what he's saying.
Trump: "We need Greenland for national protection. They have a very small population. They say Denmark, but Denmark has spent no money. They have no military protection. They say Denmark was there 300 years ago or something with a boat. Well, we were there with boats too I'm sure."

I don't think we "leaked" it. I think we just aired it. Because, you know, different country, without a fascist government controlling our public media? That sort of thing.
The funny part? More people will watch it now due to the controversy than would have watched it during a normal airing. 😂 Whoopsi, was it supposed to be secret? Oops, we didn't know that 😂
December 23, 2025 at 2:56 PM
Of course, it was broadcast here in Canada on the night it was supposed to air...because we don't have public media controlled by a fascist state.
Had Bari Weiss just ran the story, it would have been seen by a couple million people tops. The bootleg has now gone viral, and may end up being the most-watched 60 Minutes segment ever. It might be time to rename the Streisand Effect.

And the people who "hated masks and vaccines and hated our PM" took the $2000 a month...
This was 5 years ago today. Vaccines were just about to be given out. People in Canada that qualified were given 2000$ a month. Herd immunity was screamed by far right. They hated masks & vaccines. They hated our PM who bent over backward for them.

My brother in law died of covid 2 weeks later.

"It is not enough to celebrate Mr. al Ahmed’s courage. The [Muslim] community must also confront who and what he fought against: a hateful, murderous ideology that is the very antithesis of Islam."

Opinion: We have to confront what Ahmed al Ahmed fought on Bondi Beach
The Sydney hero embodies the best of Islamic teachings. But all Canadians must also oppose the hateful, murderous, extremist ideology he took on and help the Jewish community heal

When he was first elected, women in my Toronto neighbourhood gathered to share our horror. We recognized this evil man. We'd seen him before: in boardrooms and bars; sexually assaulting us in elevators. We knew him.

People spoke of checks and balances. But we knew. This was big, big trouble.

I have dyscalculia. It's a similar neuroprocessing issue as dyslexia, except with numbers. It was made worse by being born female in the 50's, which meant no meaningful help with numbers. I am basically number-crippled.

But even I know how incredibly, stupidly, WRONG this is.
FOX: If you cut something by 100%, the cost goes down to 0. If you cut it by 600%, the drug companies are actually paying you

LUTNICK: What he's saying is if a drug was $100 and you bring it down to $13, it's down 7 times

F: Not a 600% cut

L: But it's 700% higher price before. It's down 700% now

I remember in the 1980s having my GP tell me after I'd had a birth control failure that he could prescribe something that would bring on a period, which would prevent a nascent pregnancy from proceeding. Basically a morning after pill.
An interview with Rebecca Kelliher, whose book "Just Pills" traces the history of abortion pills, starting with misoprostol’s whispered origins among Brazilian women in the 1980s as a “pill that makes your period back” through decades of clinical trials and widespread use in almost 100 countries.
