I actually don't believe that all books and reading materials are appropriate for all kids at all times in all circumstances. It is good to be thoughtful. Yet, censorship is when the powerful decide appropriateness for the less powerful at all times in all circumstances. No challenges/exceptions.

I am teaching teachers at the BA, MA, and PhD levels this semester. The thing all the groups have in common is that they are not sure what they are supposed to be doing. And that is not a slam to them. They are scared that if they do teaching, there will be a raft of consequences. Not just firing.
