This is Joey. He has left this reality and traveled to another that consists only of his toy. 13/10 we are so happy for him

Updated explainer diagram version!

Still can't get over the structures we see in this lens. Physics allows us to see around corners!

Someone said to me last night that this looks like a half-cut avocado, and now I cannot unsee it! 🥑

Fake space image? Nope! The latest JWST image shows a phenomenon called an Einstein Ring. You are looking at 2 galaxies—an elliptical galaxy closer to us sits at the center, and a more distant spiral galaxy is warped around it. This is a type of gravitational lensing. (1/3)

The Aurora Borealis? At this time of year? At this time of day? In this part of the country?

20 minutes ago here in Venetie, Alaska, the skies erupted in a beautiful auroral substorm. Here is just one of many real-time videos I recorded during the show to give you a sense of how fast and dynamic the aurora can move.

It truly is easy to see with the naked eye if you can get away from light pollution 🤩
The beauty of our own Milky Way galaxy can be captured with something as simple as a phone camera. For iPhone users, if you place your phone on a tripod it unlocks the ability for it to take up to 30 second long exposures in night mode.✨🔭

Comets are my favorite space object. I've been fascinated by them since witnessing the Hale-Bopp in the late 1990s.

Saturn's rings are exactly aligned with Earth today, making them "vanish" because they are so thin.

Unfortunately the planet is currently hidden in the glare of the Sun, but Alan Friedman compiled a great image sequence of a similar vanishing in 2009. 🧪🔭
