While conducting research on the absent parafloral history of Spiritualism this morn, I happened upon a 1929 photograph of Annie Besant in a garden. I couldn’t help but be taken by her robe, vines outlining her body like an aura, ascending from vegetal motifs reminiscent of the tree of life.
