While conducting research on the absent parafloral history of Spiritualism this morn, I happened upon a 1929 photograph of Annie Besant in a garden. I couldn’t help but be taken by her robe, vines outlining her body like an aura, ascending from vegetal motifs reminiscent of the tree of life.

In the early phase of developing a new lecture series on visual thinking, specifically geometric & diagrammatic methods. This series w/ a focus on the philosophy of the diagram explores a multiplicity of histories, theories, & practices from lit, math, arts & crafts, DH, occult & magical practice.

Mine mind feels chaotic. Perhaps this is another iteration of Dionysian consciousness? I truly feel mad. I’d love to poison u w/ stories of how I’ve been ravaged by intellectual ecstasy, when I felt the slipperiness of language penetrate the labyrinth of sulci floating in cerebrospinal fluid.

I've been working w/ a lot of archives across the USA & abroad as my book on plants, mediums, & spirits continues to evolve. Here's a recent find: a framed crayon floral wreath w/ the word "Frankie" written in the center, produced through the #mediumship of Kate Fox, 1879. #parafloral

Teaching a session this semester on network analysis in an art history course titled Modernism, Anti-Modernism, & the Avant-Garde, 1900–1950. Diagrams have long been tools for analysis in art, especially among avant-garde artists 👇🏼 proto-network diagrams from post–WWI avant-garde periodicals.

In the late 1920s and 30s, Helen Wells clairaudiently received Flower--Life in Etheric, dictated by John Lewis Childs (1857-1921). Wells was the President of the Spiritual and Ethical Society of NYC and the Bureau for Scientific Investigation and demonstration of psychic phenomena.
