Everyone else is another you. That's the moral revolution.

This is deeply troubling and leaves everyone wondering who is actually running our country?

You can do the same by locking them away, no?

And what of the pedophiles you haven't yet discovered?

I wasn't implying that the Chinese execution of these 3 was vigilantism; I was responding to Chet's "we need to be willing to kill" thing -- yeah, obviously, who wouldn't feel justified in using force to protect against aggression? -- but it sounded more like he was endorsing individual 7*r*ism.

or their root cause analysis as to why these 3 did this at all. Why these 3 and not others? "Because human nature, that's all, and that's why we need to execute them as a deterrent" is a shit answer.

If deterrence is what it is, I would wonder what the basis of their belief that it provides substantive deterrence vice prison or work camps is. Or, you know, the basis for their assumption that rehabilitation wouldn't work on these 3, or like, why castrating them wasn't an option;

Unless of course you find a more effective way.

Seems like they know very well how to handle violence.

I'm not saying avoid any situation whatsoever that could potentially result in violence from others, but I am saying that Prop of the D is counterproductive.

Retribution is a capitalist myth.

Deterrence, incapacitation, and rehabilitation are justified.

Because in a place like China you don't need to, there are other options, and they aren't ultimately responsible for why they are the way they are. You're assigning personal blame for things that are just cause and effect from the system.

Yes, that's good, but execution is not the correct response

Especially in light of the fact pedophiles are products of the system that made them and there's no such thing as free will and there's no physical basis for free will to possibly exist. Anger looks pretty stupid. Dismay is more rational.

Why is this a sign of success? Why wouldn't they be in work camps instead of executed? I am disturbed by the reactionary attitude espoused by your post.

And depending on the data you use, statistics can be used to tell almost any story you desire to tell.

"There are lies, damned lies, and then there are statistics"
February 6, 2026 at 2:25 PM
I notice that the capitalists are very fond of offering data-only arguments because it sounds like if you question it then you are questioning *science*. But in the real world, things actually happen by cause and effect. Even stochastic processes have a cause-and-effect relationship.

For example, the claim was made endlessly during the pandemic that "you can't get COVID from the surfaces of packages" (e.g., plastic), and they 'proved' this by citing data; but they offered no physical explanation for their claim. You could still just touch a package and then rub your eyes.
