Forgot Moon Girl's also "woke" for starring a Black girl. Black people are "supposed" to just be the best friend or supporting character of some white person as the star, or not appear at all! (Also, she's technically a reboot of a white character... I'm sure Elon Musk is livid.) 🙄

If boycotting streaming services over politics/Trump, as I've noted before, they all have flaws. The *least* problematic options here at this point are probably Netflix, PBS Kids, and going back to DVDs and Blu-rays (those can be bought used).

The header image is on purpose. They're all shows either mistreated by their owners (LooneyTunes), faced censorship (Moon Girl), have LGBTQ characters and thus "woke" (Moon Girl, The Loud House), or fel victim to Trump gutting PBS funding (Molly of Denali).

At work is a picture of "Brave and the Bold" #28 (the JLA's debut) on my cubicle wall as part of something. Explained to a coworker the Justice League = "the superhero team Superman Batman and Wonder Woman belong to and founded." Probably could've also said "they're like the Avengers" (I know...).

One result of expanding unemployment and inflation increasing prices on everything is lots of folks are trying to make decisions about what expenses to cut.

Disney+ recently waved it arms while yelling “Pick me!” And I did.

It might not be a good business decision to become an obvious choice.

Similar to Disney+'s price hikes, I assumed these were prescheduled, but still a "look" per recent boycotts/events. Also, guessing any other theme park is cheaper...

Disney World, Disneyland Hike Ticket Prices
Disney has increased ticket prices for its two big U.S. theme parks, Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando and Disneyland Resort in Anaheim.

Adding a few possible reasons for less violent shows: 1968 saw the "Batman" TV show canceled, so the superhero/action craze already peaked? "Mr. Rogers" debuted that year, with "Sesame Street" the following year (both on PBS' predecessor NET). Also, well, there's also real life events in 1968.

Next week's DC Calendar posts: Joker again! Another "Shazam" character that isn't Black Adam (who's not on this calendar at all, so stop wondering)! And the only Black character on the calendar! (Again, this *was* made in 1976, though DC had other Black characters by this point.)

Since the ad's from the 1967-68 season, there was probably already a loud enough fuss being raised over violence. By 1968-69, networks started shifting to less violent fare: "Wacky Races," "Archie," etc. "Archie" being a hit and "Scooby" being a *way* bigger hit in 1969, well...

Think Tiny Toons had a joke with a sign on the WB lot stating they'd "booted out Columbia."

Firefox for Android supports installing extensions, including the uBlock Origin ad blocker. On iOS, think there's AdGuard as an ad blocker for Safari.
