So Parchment Party unfortunately didn’t win and the weather conditions for the race went away from what he prefers. But still beat some of the favoured horses and as I said to my sister, the achievement was not in the result itself but the experience, one that’s made history.

So very proud of her.

Added me to his special lists as well 😂

I’m so “aggressively anti-car“ that I actually own one. Clearly not intelligent enough to understand the difference between anti-car and anti-bad driver, of which I have no doubt he is one.

Some truly psychotic drivers out there today (just for a change). Think the worst was the <1m close pass immediately followed by a left hook causing me to brake again (you’ve heard it before).

But at least the winter bike got it’s maiden run out for the off-season.

A rule in the Highway Code (163) motorists often fail to adhere to.

If a parked vehicle is on your side of the road and there’s insufficient road space for both vehicles to proceed, then you wait. If you barrel through anyway then I can only presume you got your driving licence from a cereal box.

With the perpetual sh!tshow of these isles, I’m extremely envious of my mum who’s had a lovely daytrip to Valdepenas de Jaen and seen the mythical Sierra de la Pandera (though chose not to drive up it). ⛰️

I acknowledge that he was provoked into an answer by the insistent journalist interviewing him, but still:

The categorised climb in today’s TOB stage also amused me.

Lot of confusion with it, but many of those who initially reported that a driver was involved have changed their report accordingly.

With the daily platforming of the small boats and flatulence level rhetoric of Fartage by the sellout MSM, it’s probably a good time to point out a country thriving and one that sees immigration as a strength not a scourge. That country being Spain.

Need to correct the above point, Richard Burgon is also here. So make that 2 and frankly, given the clear out of the left by Starmer, I’m surprised both are still in the party.

Not so well thought out consequences of painting St. George crosses on mini roundabouts (aside from criminal damage) - leaving it to be subjected to tyre marks, due to appalling U.K. driving standards.

Equivalent of letting someone wipe their muddy boots all over the flag you’re so proud about.

10 summit finishes so I stacked the team full of climbers. Lots of long climbs with irregular gradients (fake news climbs) which def suit the lighter pure climber types.

Ryan is gonna be a breakaway demon and low key Harold is gonna make the step up with some good results.

Final team for Velogames Spain. An amendment on B from earlier, stacking the team with climbers.

Really excited for the best grand tour to get started. A showground for young riders to break out, whilst providing a chance for underperforming riders to save their season.

Good luck to all.

Is this true or yet another mistake by PCS? Pretty big if true that Ineos would pull Ben Turner out of Renewi to race La Vuelta.

Fast approaching La Vuelta start. Looking at 2 very different Velogames drafts & unsure which way to go. Famously said that Mads will struggle to reach his ppc in the Giro, so fearing not including him here.

So which is it to be? A (Almeida) or B (Mads)?

Currently favouring B, what do you reckon?

1st draft for Velogames Spain. A team I do like and there’s 5 absolute locks:

Vingegaard - Obvious

Almeida - Closest challenger to JV

Gall - Longer final climbs really suit him, great value at 10

Silva - Breaks, great form + a fast finisher

Soler - Poss the best value rider in the contest at 6

It may be an unprecedentedly bad Velogames season for me, but my incessant checking for Velogames Spain to go live, thousand yard stares out of the window, aimless pacing about, etc has not changed.

Hopefully not long to go, otherwise I’ll need to get the carpet replaced.

Self-owns of a bad driver, whilst trying to sell it as some sort of macho flex.

Why are you having to deal with aggressive cyclists so often? Have you not worked it out yet?
August 15, 2025 at 1:52 PM
Bad councils love them.

Screen grab in order to not promote the gutter press.

One reminder I got yesterday, is that however good infra is, drivers will still find a way to pose a danger.

The A65 Kirkstall Lane cycle lane (I refer to as a death trap) has priority over the side roads and the junctions are set back from it.

Dangers not because of design but because of drivers.
August 12, 2025 at 2:32 PM
My immediate thoughts and best wishes that the cyclist makes a swift and full recovery.

A reminder to avoid riding in the door zone. A) because despite efforts to educate drivers, many will still open their door without checking it’s clear. And B) the gutter press will report on it like this.

I think Shanker Singham features in it too.

What’s this? Is this a Labour MP finally finding some semblance of a conscience and realising that abhorrent dehumanising language isn’t a great look?! (Wish I’d screenshotted the initial post but no doubt someone will have).
August 9, 2025 at 6:32 PM
The criticism almost certainly fails to identify what kills the vast majority of pedestrians on the pavement.

Any death is a failure and every step should be taken to prevent these tragic outcomes, but the discussion must always begin with those who pose the overwhelming danger to others.
