I’ve noticed a bunch of newcomers, so welcome!
Let me introduce myself: I’m Djigr, PhD student at MNHN in Paris, working on the phylogeny of pollinating scarabs 🪲
Firm believer in the fact that science is fun, I have a thousand scicom projects which I’ll be posting about:

day 8 of #paleoctober2025 masiakasaurus - a unique theropod whose teeth projected forwards instead of straight down, which probably meant it had a specialised diet, maybe fish and other small prey.

#paleoctober2025 day 8 : Masiakasaurus knopfleri !

I usually don't care that much about dinosaurs...but this one: Come from the Cretaceous of Madagascar (and have a malgasy name), is a small relative of animals like Carnotaurus and Ceratosaurus, and have huge teeth at the front going foreward. WTF.

The genus existed until the Miocene, but I chose the Late Cretaceous Sequoites dakotensis so I could include an enantiornithine bird. The juvenile avialan is begging for food from an unseen parent perched atop the conifer branch with a cone and speculative leaves below it. The scene is overcast with fine rain.

Hop, j'ai téléchargé une appli qui permet de faire des automatisations sur Android (Automate), j'ai fait un micro-script, et pouf ! J'ai un fond d'écran qui se met à jour quand je rotate la tablette :D
Corneillification de la tablette accomplie.
Maintenant, le ZenFone.

En attendant, j'ai réussi à commencer la customisation sur ma Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 grâce à Theme Park, une appli du store Samsung, et je glousse, c'est excessivement mignon, Clip Studio Paint est une petite corneille qui dessine 🥹
Il me faut le fond d'écran dynamique selon l'orientation, argh !

En tout cas j’ai installé les 2 et je verrai lequel me convient le mieux. Le problème c’est qu’ils ont un aspect beaucoup plus lent que le launcher d’usine de mon Zenfone, ça ne donne pas trop envie...
Il y a aussi Niagara mais c’est minimaliste, il faut aimer !

Les gens proposent d’utiliser Octopi launcher ou Smart launcher. Smart launcher semble être le plus stable et customisable mais 23€ pour l’achat à vie, ça pique un peu.
Octopi est soutenu par 1 gars, à voir cb de tps...

Nouveau défi : comment créer un pack d’icônes ?
L’outil qui permet d’en créer le plus populaire est Icon Pack Studio, et je vois comment l’utiliser, mais les packs sont incompatibles avec mon launcher.
Soit je change de launcher, soit je trouve comment faire un pack d’icônes autrement.

Retournement de situation, il semblerait que le ASUS Launcher (le launcher utilisé par défaut par les Zenfone et ROG phones) supporte les packs d’icône, mais ne permet pas de les sélectionner, le bouton n’existe pas !
Heureusement un bonhomme a écrit une app pour ça

Je lis que je dois probablement télécharger un autre launcher Android. Très bien, sauf que le launcher que Pikaole recommande, Nova launcher, n’est plus soutenu par son développeur original depuis son acquisition par une grosse boîte et est devenu un scamware 😭

day 7 of #paleoctober2025 - sequoites - originally described as a coniferous tree, but further discoveries in the canadian province of saskatchewan indicate that it may have actually belonged to the genus parataxodium

#PaleoMori days 3,4, and 5! Gotta love when the days get away from ya. But, why else would I draw these three in the same scene? Wasn't planning on making this one line-less but it's probably my favorite of my line-less pieces, though. All two and a half of them. Including this one.

Despite its name, this conifer may be more closely related to cypress family (Cupressaceae). Even more strange for us, it's a possibility that it was a deciduous tree, shedding its leaves seasonally.
