In the early stages of the Nazi regime the SA thugs, the equivalent of ICE, acting in enforcement like this became a problem for Hitler, thus becoming a liability. One reason for Night of the Long Knives. However he had to answer to President Hindenburg and the Army then. There is no restraint here.

Do Americans realise that in Western Europe, Australia or New Zealand this many deaths in custody in one month would bring down a government? That is how civilised countries work.
Officially, seven people have died in ICE detention this month. Thinking about the way the Trump admin vanishes both people and data, I suspect the real number is higher.

Military history devoid of social, cultural, diplomatic, literary etc forms of history is essentially meaningless. Knowing what soldiers and armies did in battle without understanding why they did them, the cultures that produced them, or the industries that supported them is pointless.
