Ask if you’re free to leave, if they say no, ask if you’re under arrest. If they say no to that too, you must provide name and address if asked, as well as if you’re a citizen, but if you’re not driving and you are a U.S. citizen, they can’t demand ID docs from you. Tell them you want a lawyer.
