I dislike it when German speakers do that. I will refer to Gdańsk as Gdańsk, and not as "Danzig". I believe doing the latter almost serves to legitimise irredentism.
Don't a lot of Germans still refer to a lot of Polish towns by their old German names rather than trying to figure out how to pronounce the Polish names? Surprised they don't do that for Hungary, just make up exonyms they can pronounce.

It's crazy seeing where all these people I used to know online ended up. I know people who were part of gamergate who now work foreign policy jobs for the E.U commission, while others now propagandise online in desperate hope for a few Russian coins.

I think the problem isn't "the far-right has the anti-communist rhetoric all for themselves", it's "the far-right has EVERY rhetoric all for themselves", because liberals have no backbone nowadays. They rely on institutionalism way too much, even as those very same institutions collapse/fail them.

i think a major challenges for the next "reasonable" American government, will be that the American people voted for "this" twice.

I really hope that the Americans find the courage after this wretched administration is over, to put the people responsible on trial. There is reason to believe that some of the people murdered in the Caribbean were just fishermen. It's outrageous.
The only exception that I can think of is when the US Fifth Air Force and the RAAF shot up shipwrecked survivors after the Battle of the Bismarck Sea.

I hope I am not speaking out of place here, but I would argue that the number one demand for any ceasefire with Russia should be that all the kidnapped children, all the people deported to Russia, and all the POWs are returned to Ukraine.
