Challenge: post your latest photo taken in DC to show what a hell-hole it is:

I went for a run on my own at 6:15am and felt perfectly safe the whole time.

Congrats to these fabulous students on presenting their research projects at UGA's undergraduate research symposium today! I presented at this symposium in 2002(!), and it was a pivotal time of discovering how much I love research. I'm thrilled to be able to offer similar opportunities now.

Good showing in Atlanta today for #standupforscience, where many people work in health sciences or with the CDC. I feel inspired by the creative signs and speakers.

I'm taking part in @standupforscience.bsky.social in Atlanta on Friday! The landscape for US scientists has forever changed in just 6 wks. I hope this event highlights how many people are affected by Trump's destructive actions. If nothing else, I'll be enjoying these cookies with my friends.

Let's all take care of ourselves this weekend. It has not been an easy week to be a climate scientist, or just a human who is paying attention to what's going down. But burning ourselves out in week 1 will get us nowhere. Here's a cute cat photo, just because.

Greetings! 👋🏼 I'm a climate scientist studying the role of vegetation & soils in our future climate. I'm also a geography professor at UGA & a UGA alum (go Dawgs!).

I work with Earth system models (lots of desk time), so I get outside to enjoy nature and exercise as much as I can. We only have one 🌍

If you feel like the problems of the world are too big to solve, I highly recommend litter picking! In a little over an hour, my daughter and I made the area around the local elementary school look loads better, and kept a bunch of plastic out of the soil. It felt really good. #ActLocal

Super fun time today at Hyytiälä research station, where they have been collecting continuous measurements of the first for nearly 30 years! The forest is an estimated sink of 300 gC/m2/yr, and the sink is growing each year.
