New: Democrats can despair over the coming degradation of the government, or they can be defiant, insisting they’ll be ready to rebuild better if and when they regain power. But to strike the latter tone, the party needs a new style of leadership.

The party should start imagining what the government will look like if they ever re-inherit it, and commit now to rebuilding right.
