Look how much more pleasant the city centre is without all that queuing traffic. Never mind Deansgate, we should be pedestrianising Cross Street, at least when the Christmas Markets are on.

Was in Manchester today and happened to catch the Christmas Parade. This certainly brightened up a rainy Sunday!

Fantastic evening doing pottery throwing for the first time at Clay Studio in Stretford town centre. Definitely want to do some more.

So glad for this “protected” cycling infrastructure. DPD driver on Chester Rd decided to start driving at me. Roads in GM are like the Wild West and get worse daily.

More cyclists dismount signs in Salford. Surely there's more than enough space there for people walking and cycling, without dismounting. And technically, that's not a footway.

Loading bays here, though I suspect the cycleway may end up getting blocked by motor vehicles at times, given the kerbs aren’t that high. Enforcement is going to be key.
November 26, 2025 at 9:09 PM
Continuous footways too, though footway drops to carriageway level rather than the other way round

Public realm looking good too

Chapel Street is looking pretty good now and the correct colour! #Bikesky

Oh and don’t get me started on this

Honestly don’t know why they’re bothering upgrading the junctions along Stretford and Talbot Road, when they spend half the year looking like this.

With this plus the junction works that have been going for almost a year, plus the roadworks on Stretford Rd, I’ve largely given up using it.

I remember what it was like from when we stayed on Amsterdamsestraatweg in 2017. Cycling on here was still better than most UK roads (except for the odd parked car) but it really was a traffic sewer and pretty grim place to be. Looks significantly better now!

I propose that the Deansgate / Quay St junction is the worst ever junction to include protected cycling.

I honestly doubt you could have deliberately designed a junction with more conflict between users.

At some point, I’ll get a video showing just how bad it is.

Next, we parked ourselves at Aviva Studios and relaxed over multiple cups of tea. Should come here more often, it’s quite chilled.

Next to Campfield, where we grabbed some lunch. Great seeing these old buildings coming to life.
