Meanwhile, the rest of the country is getting squeezed by tariffs and high prices for groceries, utilities, and health care.

The system is broken.

It seems to me that most world leaders have not got a clue how to build peace. And for those who think we need to learn history so we do not make the mistakes of the past, well, I think that theory is blown to bits.
