Beautiful winter morning at Portbury Wharf today. The pools weren’t as frozen as last week so more birds on the water and hedgerows were very busy with tits, gold crest, collared doves, redwing etc. reedbuntings and stonechat by north #AvonBirds #PWNR

Sometimes I can’t get up because my body feels like it’s made of lead and I’m wading through treacle. Sometimes I can’t get up because there’s a pile of cats on me. Most of the time it’s both.

I used to get so annoyed with my mum cleaning my face with her sleeve as I waited for the school bus.
Decades later I’m cleaning my cat’s face before we go to the vet and she looks at me the same way I would look at my mum.

I saw a duck on ice today but the highlight was geese landing on ice and the ice not being thick enough to support them all :D

I made it out! I also manage to layer up so well that only my toes got cold, even though it was very icy. I feel so sleepy now but it was worth it. My brain very much needed bird hide time, even if my body is less convinced it was a good idea.

First trip of the year to Portbury Wharf Nature Reserve and such a glorious day. I saw my first water rail! A lot of the water was frozen over. Saw a beautiful bullfinch glowing in the sun light, lots of tits (LT, blue, great) ducks (gadwall, wigeon, mallard, shelduck, shoveler) and more #UKBirding

Daz drove me to the seafront to get some new year birds. As we got there a marsh harrier was being chased off by gulls and curlews were pecking around in the mud. Nice little bit of car birding.
