I really need to stop tempting fate by making posts like this because the last 24 hours my hands have hurt like hell. Last night my whole body felt electric. I try and celebrate the good stuff but maybe I shouldn’t get ahead of myself 😢

Do you know how good it feels to be creating stuff?! Drawing still really hurts, especially if I do too much, but I think the peak levels of pain that were keeping me awake all night have calmed down. I don't mind pushing through pain if I can still sleep! (I'm like a cat, I need a lot of sleep).

A flock of approximately fifty+ Redshank flying over the high tide this morning.
#UKbirding - Portishead "The Hole", 10 October 2025.

They are adorable and I love that they bring their chicks to our garden in the spring.

Highlight of this morning's high high tide was an extremely well-hidden Snipe amongst the remaining foliage. Would not have seen it had it not done a little fly-and-land. (Think we saw two more fly off and into the distance as well but can't confirm 100%).

lots of greeny-brown-yellow grass and foliage at the edge of a blue-ish sea. Amongst all the foliage is a very well hidden stripey brown bird with a long beak and beady eye - a Snipe.

Why does the @rspb.bsky.social magazine still have adverts for foreign travel birding holidays… in the same issue that mentions climate change’s affect on salt marshes etc. Jetting around the world to look at birds is not good for the planet!

Thankfully we can park right by the sea wall so I could mostly just sit in the car (got out to take photos). I think I’ll be sleeping al afternoon

I so often find myself saying 'just a robin' which is unfair as robins are just a great as other birds and they're the ones that keep on singing all year round, making the world a brighter place. Here's to you little robin :D

Last night Daz asked if I wanted to get up early and look at the high tide, and despite feeling horrendous I said yes. I'm glad I did. It's a big high tide and when the water is still and high it's so serene and beautiful. Now I'm going back to bed.

Yep, my whole mobility component of PIP goes on my car *and* we had to make a substantial down payment. There’s nothing free about it and so many people can’t afford it.

I knew before we went out that I was probably feeling too unwell to go but I went out anyway and now I feel like I’m being weighed down by rocks.
Having a hobby that gets me out of the house has been great for my mental health… my physical health is not so happy about it at all.
