Husband. Father. Hoosier. Citizen. Lawyer.

Due process is where you go to see if what is said is so.
Aww, that's sad. Her dad is a local attorney.

E pluribus unum. Abracadabra!

Well, would you look at that - everything other than the Second Amendment, Article II, and the Supremacy Clause were scriveners errors!

Now, if you would be so kind as to scootch over a bit, we'll be quartering some troops in your house.

Might be more of a Mitch Daniels thing.

Who are these guys who have to be eternally vigilant against the wiles of women who are seeking to ensnare them? Maybe I'm blissfully unaware of how hideous I am, but it really hasn't been an issue. At all.

Would history buff Zinke care to speculate on how various people would have fared at Nuremberg?

Reminds me of a suggestion I read that, in World War II (and presumably before), Japanese commanders would require their soldiers to commit atrocities so that, in part, their lives basically depended on defeating and subjugating the population against whom the atrocities were committed.

But I've been informed that entering "the trades" is the One Weird Trick colleges don't want us to know about.

Unfortunately, it probably won't happen any time soon. Even if we were to make a lot of progress on the equal rights front, there is still a lot of money to be made preying on the anxieties of parents!

My experience is that 20 years ago, the pressure on new moms from lactation zealots was wild. Some of the pro-lactation sentiment started from a good place - lets not industrialize and monetize something that a lot of newborns can get for free from their mother. But it grew toxic in some quarters.

This is probably a weird mental leap - but it puts me in mind of the scapegoat idea. You heap the sins of the community on someone who is largely blameless and put them to death.

Here, minor aggravations to the community (taxes, congestion) are reduced but there's a lethal tradeoff.

That's awesome. Cole gets to march in the Rose Parade in advance of playing for the #1 Hoosiers at the Rose Bowl. It's all just surreal.

Can't pee in a bottle anymore? We used to be a country. A proper country.

Same, I think. It's anecdata and a different school district. (My kids say, because it was West Lafayette, they went to 'nerd school.') But the environment seemed way less hostile than what I experienced, particularly in junior high.
