This is pretty close to the most “complicated” group we could draw. Fortunately this took a lot of effort to spit out.

This is probably my most favourable draw for Canada, and most unlikely.

Oh, there you are you little rascal. Where have you been hiding? 🇨🇦⚽️🥶

@the-owen-w.bsky.social That’s a solid tune-up match.

Still think Ahmed is heading to Europe in the January. Maxime and or Dayne might answer the call if they didn’t need to check in with a new club. Who are we missing?

@the-owen-w.bsky.social so we now have our playoff paths set:

Like this?

Yup, the Italian Job is now Pot 2.

Scotland still a chance to send Denmark to the playoffs and Panama could also become a seeded Playoff team if they don’t win their group which, if I am not mistaken, could mix up the Pots a little more.

He makes my Camp Poutine squad.

Not gonna lie, had to look that up. Good reminder of the CB issues pre-Copa.

Also, look at that midfield. 😬
November 15, 2025 at 12:46 AM
The challenge with a back 3 is we don’t have much coverage (glad Kamal got his 50 caps, shouldn’t see the pitch for Canada, outside of a Camp Poutine, again). But how about this:

@the-owen-w.bsky.social I am really struggling to believe that Marsh won’t put Larin on the plane because of his defensive abilities off the ball and that’s why he insists on playing Oluwaseyi. If we go to a single striker I can’t imagine him also sacrificing what Ahmed does off the ball. So…

@the-owen-w.bsky.social We’ve kicked around a 3-man midfield so one option for that would be:

@the-owen-w.bsky.social If we are going to drink the Ritchie Laryea kool-aid and insist on him in the XI then we can do this:

@the-owen-w.bsky.social With Niko’s evolution (and Alistair’s injuries) this has increasingly looked like an option:

@the-owen-w.bsky.social Well I have time to kill while waiting for my flight home…so let’s figure this out.

Post-Copa (with some revelations since) I think we figure Jesse goes with:

Still think this is our best 26 (and more importantly think this is what Marsch has) but open to trying to figure out how to get a 3-man midfield that makes sense.
November 14, 2025 at 6:32 PM
Try this instead. Problem remains for me that I prefer Fonzie at LB making overlaps and racing back to support when we are out of possession.
November 14, 2025 at 2:52 PM
Should include the roster. No?

Camp Poutine would still be a solid squad though a little light up top. (I am assuming Ali Ahmed gets his Jan move to Europe and I am focused on the 3rd keeper fight so giving St. Clair and Crepéau a pass on this camp).

Laryea is a lock for the squad but not in the starting Xl in my mind.

Here is where I am right now:
