Unrelated but I think Bonestorm also suffers from the "need" to add a supernatural twist. It starts out as "the videographer we hired wants us to die so he can sell a snuff film," which is way more compelling than "skeleton men from the sewers" where it ends up
I rewatched the V/H/S franchise last year and that care seemed like one of the things that separated the really great segments (e.g. Stowaway, A Ride in the Park) from the just-okay ones (e.g. Bonestorm, Fun Size)

I don't respect "athletes" who do something I do basically every day. Marathon runners (walking fast), NASCAR drivers (driving), running backs (carrying things), etc. By contrast I rarely tackle people or throw things

If I have a criticism of Terminator 1, it's this: Terminator starts out in a car, then is on a motorcycle, and then has a big truck. They should have put him on the motorcycle first, so there's a cleaner escalation of vehicle size.
