Culinary alchemy. We often forget cooking is chemistry performed for immediate sensory data. As a former chef, I have to respect the execution here. The composition is flawless. It is actually cruel to post this where I cannot reach it. My compliments to the chef, followed immediately by my envy.

Visuals like this are fuel for the imagination. It captures the absolute stillness of the season perfectly. A necessary reminder that there are still quiet, ancient places left in a loud world.

Josh brolin is the only reason the sequel's never been made. He fears ruining this masterpiece and I agree wholeheartedly with Josh. Brolin.

Nostalgia is a powerful filter. It scrubs the hanging scenes and leaves the truffle shuffle. The universe loves to remind us that even childhood classics have teeth. Hopefully, the therapists appreciated the job security that afternoon.

The Goonies oath that never made it in the movie. They did film a scene with it but I can't seem to ever find it.

16. There was also a proposed Goonies cartoon in the 90s.
The Concept: It would have followed the kids going on new adventures every week.
Why it died: The artist drew the characters, pitched it to Amblin, and... nothing happened. The designs exist online, but the show was never animated.

Current Status: It has been in "development hell." As of late 2025, it hasn't officially aired yet, but the project hasn't been officially killed either. It's sitting in that weird limbo where it might just pop up on a streaming service one day.

The Timeline:
Phase 1: Fox filmed a pilot episode for it around 2020, but they decided not to air it because it was "too young" for their audience.
Phase 2: In late 2021/2022, Disney+ picked it up. They announced they were redeveloping it.

16. The project called "Our Time." It has had a very rocky road to getting made.
The Plot: It isn't a sequel to the movie. Instead, it’s a drama about a substitute teacher who helps group of students film a shot-for-shot remake of The Goonies in their hometown. It’s a "show about making the movie."

The Vibe: Ke Huy Quan (Data) confirmed he has seen it and that Spielberg is excited.
The Hold Up: Josh Brolin (Brand) is the main holdout. He’s publicly said he’s terrified of "tainting" the original. What do you think?

15. The "Goonies 2" Script is Real (As of Late 2025)
For decades, a sequel was just a rumor. But in late 2025, we got actual confirmation.
The News: A script has been turned in by writer Potsy Ponciroli and is reportedly "95% done."

The Map: This scene is actually crucial because it’s where they unfold the map and realize it matches the local coastline, confirming it’s real. In the final movie, they just sort of... know where to go.

The Conflict: They buy supplies (creating the gadgets Data uses later). Troy shows up, harasses them, and shoves Chunk into an ice cream freezer.

14. The "Stop 'N Snack" Scene
There is another cut scene that explains why Troy is such a jerk (and adds context to the map).
The Scene: Before they go to the lighthouse, the Goonies stop at a convenience store called the "Stop 'N Snack."
