walking the love interest home after the first date (aka three days after no-strings sex weekend)
"So," Jean says, eyes dancing with glee. "Yeah." Reiner says. "Someone has to say it." Reiner remembers uttering these exact words, half-hard in his car as they discussed boundaries. And other things. He didn't want that someone to be him, then. Didn't want to seem pushy, in case he'd misunderstood. Now, he's not sure what it is Jean wants him to say. Date over, time to switch to their night personas? Should he be keeping up the game, find a semi-clever way to be invited inside and blend those two aspects of the relationship together? He doesn't know what Jean wants him to say. Inexplicably, that doesn't bother him. So he says, "I want to kiss you." Because it's true. Because it hasn't stopped being true since the last time he said it. "Fucker," Jean growls, and in his tone Reiner recognizes the faint blush of embarrassment. "May I?" he asks, tilting forward, staring at Jean's face in the street light. "Fucking-- yes already, why are you--" The sentence dies on Reiner's lips. He keeps it light, at first; a first date kind of kiss, easy to break away from.

Comic: Meyers and Bertrand are relaxing on the couch. She asks him if he's ever thought about trying anything in the realm of BDSM. He says he's not into being hit or insulted. She explains that dominance and submission don't have to be about violence, but rather handing over control. Bertrand asks, "But aren't there usually whips and chains and stuff like that?" Meyers offers to show him and example. She points to the ground in front of her and tells him to kneel. He looks at her nervously. She says, "It's okay," and he gets on one knee in front of her. She says "Closer." He still looks nervous, so she assures him, "I won't do anything without telling you first." She pulls her skirt back to reveal her thighs and tells him to rest his cheek on her lap and get comfortable. He does so, blushing. She starts to gently pet his hair and ear, lulling him to calmness. "There," she says. He asks "That's it?" She replies "That's it. I'm in a position of control. And as long as you're down there, you don't have to worry about a single thing." She continues to pet him as his eyes close. "How do you feel? she asks. He's stretched out on the floor, comfortable in her lap. He mumbles "Mm."

Can we start saying "a person's reality shapes how fiction affects them"? Everyone responds to the same media differently and it is not a universal experience. MANY things influence how a person reacts to & interprets media such as how they're raised, mental health, education, religion, & culture.🧵

The usual assumption has been that watching violence makes people more aggressive, but aggressive people are also drawn to watching violence. Moreover, another entirely independent factor may be causing both. Some children are born with a mental or emotional predisposition toward violence; or learn it as toddlers from the way they are treated by abusive parents or siblings; or in other ways develop aggressiveness as a personality trait. In turn, this trait or predisposition manifests itself in both their aggressive behavior and their liking for watching violence or playing aggressive games (Bushman, 1995; Ferguson, 2013). In an experiment investigating the interaction between temperament and exposure to violence, children watched either a film depicting a great deal of police violence or an exciting but nonviolent film about bike racing. They then played a game of floor hockey. Watching the violent film did increase the number of aggressive acts the children committed during the hockey game- but primarily by those who had previously been rated as highly aggressive by their teachers. These kids hit others with their sticks, threw elbows, and yelled aggressive things at their opponents to a much greater extent than did either the kids rated as nonaggressive who had also watched the violent films or the kids rated as aggressive who had watched the nonviolent film (Josephson, 1987). Likewise, a few longitudinal studies have shown that exposure to violence in media or video games has the strongest relationship in children who are already predisposed to violence (Anderson & Dill, 2000). Thus, it may be that watching media violence merely server to give them permission to express their aggressive inclinations (Ferguson & Kilburn, 2009). The same conclusi
