Rest in Pride, Edmund White. One of the greatest American writers of his time, who wrote unabashed and unashamedly of being gay. I always enjoyed his books, essays and plays from reading A Boys Own Story when I was a closeted teen onwards.

I can't say in my wildest imaginations as a youngster that I thought I'd live through another rise of fascism, let alone that so many people in the socialist area I grew up in would vote so blithely and happily for the same type of people they marched against when those people were BNP members.

I think we should have a gender strike day, where everyone who is not a gender binarist (especially allies) dresses and behaves to confuse people as much as possible. Give binarists a sense of what it feels like to be uncertain and unsupported in social definitions of gender identity.
