Mom of 2 kiddos. Scientist. Feminist. Swiftie. Survivor. Ex-Wife (🎉). Somewhere on the Mormon spectrum. Not really a chicken doctor.
Apparently my cat has learned to open the door, let herself in my room (and maybe her brother too), and close the door again.

She did it twice. At least. (I kept shutting them out.)

Or maybe I’m imagining things.

Or there’s a secret cat entrance to my room.

I might need to set up a camera.

Stories that don’t matter.

We recently blended families which means we are still figuring out things like: do we really need this many toasters?

I added 1 toaster to donation pile, leaving 2 on the counter.

Last week I noticed 1 of the remaining 2 in the trash. I asked Hubs about it.

Friday night I discovered a toilet was leaking and causing damage to kitchen ceiling.
Has it been leaking for months or days? How extensive is the damage? How much will it cost to fix?
And why is the puppy being aggressive? Will the trainer consultation help?
Just some thoughts keeping me up.

I want to scream this. Instead I’ll post here and walk away.
A young adult going to college and having political beliefs that are left or right of their parents does not mean that college radicalized them. Even if going to college caused a change in ideology, it doesn’t mean they were radicalized.

On the phone this morning with Fidelity to tell them they (again) denied an FSA reimbursement claim that they say is a duplicate.
Same provider. Same day. Different children.
I asked how I could help it not be denied in the future. She wants me to use fields that they haven’t provided on their form.

Husband keeps telling me I should drive his cars more so I know what I want/like when I’m in the market for a new car.
Drove one of his today. Called him frustrated and near tears bc I couldn’t see how to control the fans and have airflow.

My kid, totally gaslighting me: you’re not gonna buy robucks. You’re just gonna push the off button twice.

🤣😂

I drove this Rivian today, and I think I found my next car. On the other hand, I really like having no car payment, so my next car is going to be awhile.

Here's a longer video of Brad Lander's detention just now inside 26 Federal Plaza as he tried to walk a man out of immigration court, by masked federal agents.

Act 3 of this vintage dress story.
I took it to another dry cleaner and so many beads came off and the hem was eaten up by the chemicals. (I will never take it to another dry cleaner).

I put the dress in the closet for a few days and mourned. Then I got to work.
I picked the dress up from the seamstress tonight. She added the corset back, reattached the flowers and leaves, and bow and ribbon.
🥰
This story has a happy ending after all.

If anyone in Utah or Salt Lake County needs a seamstress or custom wedding dress maker, I’ve got a recommendation for you.

My family is in town for my upcoming wedding. They’re asking what they can do to help, and I keep coming up with ideas. (Next on the list might be to start folding the mountain of clean laundry I’ve been ignoring).

Meanwhile, my 5 yo is instructing me to get Barbie clothes from the basement.

My kid was asking all day about going to the rec center pool near the new house. I told him “when I’m done with work.”
We got to the rec center at 7pm only to realize that the leisure pool’s summer hours are from noon to 6pm.

I just gave away a couch. The young couple that took it were so happy to have it. I was so happy to have it go.

I like when things work out like that.

I called elementary school we are transferring to and asked about getting a tour. They said it’s just too busy; just come to back to school night.

Now I’m considering enrolling my child to start next week—the last week of school. 😅

CW: Mormon stuff

Sometime in 2020, when we were stuck at home & I was managing my kid’s school, & caring for an infant, & working full time, & watching my marriage fall apart, I took off my LDS garments.
I never put them back on.
Until today, I’ve still had them.
Today they’re gone.

The kids each made my mom a card and we delivered them with a bouquet of flowers. As we sat and visited, we were treated with my dad’s Oreo cakesters, Peanut M&M’s from my mom, and grapes. 5yo old pulled me aside… we were getting too much and hadn’t brought good enough stuff.
