My Legend of Zelda fanboyism finally won out over my “leave no trace” principles. I’d been trying to figure out what to do with this old sword for a while. My first thought was to cast it into the sea, but finding myself some 2000km from the sea in any direction, an obscure outcropping seemed right.

I shared this with my father in law (a retired A-10 pilot) during the great “Ein Marder ist kein Panzer” debate of 2023. He was not amused. Being “dark blue,” I find myself somewhere between “moderate” and “anarchist” on both axes. 🤷♂️

As a follow up to my Pikes Peak hike last week, I finally rode this loop over the weekend. It was an ass-kicker for sure, but totally worth it.

Last week I finally bagged Pikes Peak. I had planned to take it fairly easy, but I was with some people who don’t like taking breaks, so while we weren’t quite a race day pace, we were definitely stepping it out.

So there I was, miles into the backcountry on this old wagon track, slogging up the grade on my gravel bike and occasionally hauling out for others whizzing downhill. I hear a sound behind me & somebody says “on your left.” It was a dude. On an electric unicycle. Going so fast I couldn’t get a pic.
