It's time to stop blaming women for their "bad choices" in "picking abusive men".

She Didn't "Pick Wrong". Society Failed By Creating Millions of Abusive Men.
The scale of the risk means we need to stop blaming women for "ignoring red flags" when men turn out to be controlling and abusive partners

ME/CFS is a devastating condition that has long been denied, dismissed, psychologised and underdiagnosed. Research is at last starting to catch up with it, with glimmers of hope for those who have been left untreated for so long.
There's a huge BUT coming ...🧵

Here's Why A Victim-Survivor Would Send Loving Texts To Their Abuser

I went on NewsNation Live to help make sense of Cassie Ventura’s brave witness testimony at the trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs

I explained how #coercivecontrol invalidates consent

Did you know that the partner and family of a person applying for assisted suicide under Kim Leadbeater’s new law will never be told about the person's intentions and will have no way whatsover to intervene, even if they know the person is making a bad or impulsive decision? 1/2

Indeed, partners or family members could be guilty of a criminal offence if they try to persuade a person not to go ahead with a medically-assisted suicide. This isn't compassion for dying people, it's a ruthlessly imposed ideological death regime. Tell your MP to say no. 2/2

Victims-survivors are often disbelieved for seeming happy during a time when they later say their partner was abusive.

These disbelieving reactions would be different if people more fully understood what coercive control is and how it works.

Victim-survivor mothers are often told to 'get over' the abuse post-separation, 'move on', and 'be nice' when, in fact, the perpetrator is still actively abusing them and their children.

It is deeply unfair and unjust.

Blackmail is a powerful tool for abusers. They may threaten to expose private photos, secrets, or personal info to force you back. Their goal is to instill fear & coerce compliance, keeping you trapped. #CoerciveControl

In my Sociology of Childhood class, we talk about how kids become pawns in political projects. And I hate that I now have so many new examples to add to my syllabus--if I'm even allowed to teach these topics next year.

Per Dr Atul Gawande, ex USAID: “All malaria supplies protecting 53 million people, mostly children, including bed nets, diagnostics, preventive drugs, and treatments – terminated.”

There are no words that sufficiently describe this level of cruelty and sadism.

r/TwoHotTakes u/Puzzled_Ninja4085. 12h My Husband Says I'm Enmeshed Listener Write In I, 26 female, and husband, 25 male have been married for one year. We bought a house less than a year ago and everything has been great. We met during COVID and that really sped our relationship along. We dated and were married in 2 years. Before we started dating, I would hang out with my sister, 24 female, pretty much everyday. I would text or call her and my mom most days. After about 6 months of dating, my husband brought to my attention that we spend most of our time with my family. I saw his point and did my best to include his family in our free time. As we went on, he started to make comments about how I didn't need to call my mom everyday or how I'm in constant contact with my mom and sister. They are my best friends and I didn't find that weird. I did cut back to calling my mom once a week and not spending all evening texting my sister. My sister was single too, so we were so close. I think t was going fine until he would start looking at my calls and texts. Then he would say, "You called your mom twice this week." And usually it was for something important, so I didn't see an issue. But to him this was me "breaking boundaries." In the years we've been together, he constantly goes through my phone and gets so upset when he sees texts or calls to my family, if I bring up a story about them, etc. He thinks my whole world revolves around them. When I don't really talk to them except for a couple snapchats, texts, and a phone call a week. Now a year-ish later and we are in our new house, we are constantly fighting about this. So much so, that he will sleep in a different room. My sister is getting married and he threw a fit when I went to the bachelorette party, the bridal showers, and even the rehearsal dinner. I want to be there for her, she means so much to me. I want to spend time with my parents, because they won't be here for forever & I don't want to have regrets when th

Republican women voted for Trump, believing complicity would save them.

But now MAGA men are pushing conservative women out of leadership, de facto legalizing abuse, and signaling that the era of "chivalry" will be replaced with the era of eating shit.

If you've never been part of a world that demands women submission this will seem alarmist to you. Those who have, will recognize the systematic devaluing, disempowering, sidelining, abuse documented here. Each piece alone is sickening, together it's deeply alarming

Shouldn't Call the Midwife be above repeating this myth?
dremmakatz.bsky.social
With these plotlines, #CalltheMidwife is joining in populist attacks on disabled and clinically vulnerable people, who are among the most vulnerable and deprived minorities.

This show is supposed to support the underdog, not kick them when they are down.
dremmakatz.bsky.social
Episode 7, season 14 of #CalltheMidwife attacked disabled people with a plot where a woman faked being bedbound and faked needing care.

This is in line with decades of government attacks on disabled people who need benefits, despite PIP disability benefit fraud actually being near zero.

dremmakatz.bsky.social
#CalltheMidwife is becoming such a disappointment. The left leaning show has adopted right wing stances that attack disabled people.

The 2024 Christmas special's Turner family storyline made a thinly veiled attack on the C0VID-careful community and people who wear masks.

I'm watching this happen in real time. In Canada. I had trusted our systems and they are utterly destructive. Children pay the price for lawyers to harm them for profit. They know mothers will fight and pay any price.
