It's kind of a necessary evil when you're interfacing with libraries that don't play well with React's lifecycle (like XHR/Fetch, some DOM stuff, and some 3rd-party libs), but outside of that, it has no legit uses.

This is constantly why I reject, for personal reasons, people saying “oh have you tried making the AI do it??” Bc in the time it would take me to explain to the computer what I want to do, I could have just DONE it, and I know my results will be accurate. So like?? The fuck is the point

I mean, sure, effect hooks are useful for things like data fetching and saving, but *definitely not* for handling state changes.

And even then, we're using TanStack Query in this project, so data fetching is already wrapped up neatly in state. There's just no excuse.
