Dear new/potential followers!
I'm Gaby, and I post mostly for fun. I have a PhD in Digital Exclusion/Digital Service Access experience, and currently work as a change manager/digital workplace consultant.

I don't really talk about work here though. Sometimes, but not often, it might change. 1/4
Thinking of taking 4 weeks off from my client. 2 weeks end of December, and then the first 2 weeks of January. We're forced tools down for 2 weeks anyway, might as well double it

Just time to reset, work on the land, work on myself a bit, hopefully eek out some things for my future work...

Ordered a beer advent calendar. Well, we actually ordered two so that we would both have one instead of having to share. 100% portuguese beers as well. Really looking forward to sampling even from some breweries I've not yet heard of/tried!

Is it December yet?

Names and labeled the two beers today. On the laptop the colours were more distinctive, but hey ho.

Looking forward to sampling them in about two months; they're the type that need some more conditioning.

#Pluribus so far is great. Rhea Seehorn is a stellar actress.

Feels very much a critique on how the pervasiveness of GenAI is erasing people's identities and uniqueness, with some characters representing various reactions.

Interesting to see where it will lead.

Bottling the fig stout today.

Good news: dropped to the exact gravity

Medium news: the figs not really tasted as of yet. Who knows more after further conditioning and carbonation.

Next up: the grape-infused kveik IPA

Pervasive GenAI in the workplace is stupid, because otherwise we would not get cultural expressions like:

"I cannot come into work today because a family member has expired"

I mean, bit of a macabre example perhaps, but seriously, this is a global company and I live (ok ok) for these nuances.

Important read. We need to keep finding, forming and maintaining relationships of hope and transform those to action because the current fragmentation of society is by sheer design. Keep connecting, keep trying.

Gawd this is depressing.

At least there was a running break that I truly truly needed. Having a shitty week so far.

Fastest attempt at this hell of a hill lap. 6km with 180m ascent at 6.02min/km. Absolutely smashed it. Despite my earbuds giving out halfway for some reason. #RunningPunks

I am so nervous for this work in the kitchen. There was a reason we wanted to do it ourselves; if you fuck up, at least you have yourself to blame. Now we're reliant on the good graces of someone else... who is better at this than we, but still... !

Lots of swearing coming out regularly too!

Absolutely not a Taylor Swift fan. Don't get the hype. Got some catchy tunes, and that's about it for me _personally_.

But just watched the Fate of Ophelia video and have to admit that it is quite the cinematographic feat. The transitions are absolutely flawless.

Drew a line at work with AI today where I was HIGHLY ENCOURAGED to not create personal training recordings anymore for our learning platform, but replace myself with an avatar and a script...

HELL TO THE FUCKING NO. I will resign if it comes to that point where that is seen as THE WAY.

Looking at grape presses and lagares over my lunch break, and they are weirdly affordable. Probably because so many people use them here. I guess from next year on we'll be scaling up our production, in a bit of an easier way as well than crushing by hand (not foot...)!

One of those days where I'm tempted to reinstall World of Warcraft, take a day off and just game and drink lots of tea, snack on whatever is available, switching to beer at around 4pm, all sat under a blanket.

Seeing UK Labour try to claim Zohran Mamdani’s victory as a win for their political stances etc, is darkly funny, given that if he was British, he would have been hounded out of Labour asap, that not a single thing one his platform they would be onboard with.

I am really done with this week.

My work motivation is somewhere in the deep -42, I am tired and I just want to spend a week in bed.

Will be really happy once the tradesmen are out of the kitchen and it looks nice and then we can at least move that bit on. I WANT MY OVEN BACK.

My walking pad is not just great for getting steps in during a working day, it's also great to stay warm and keep the heating at a minimum. Or off today as the plasterer needs to go in, out, in, out (but hopefully not shake it all about).

Really one of the best purchases I've made in my lifetime!

Feeling slightly vindicated now that the plasterer who is here to help with the kitchen also couldn't work with the product that was meant to be the right one that we simply couldn't get to work.

So, in better news, there is going to be progress in our kitchen this week, just not by us!
