#Airpollution increases the likelihood of becoming frail in middle & old age, according to an international review

People living longer is something to celebrate but reducing #airpollution will be important for life-quality and health cost.

Piece by me.

For the first time ever, London has met legal limits for nitrogen dioxide.

When I became Mayor, we were told it would take 193 years. We did it 184 years earlier than expected.

Cleaner air means a healthier city and big savings for the NHS.

Doing my emails between meetings. A few years ago, the place I'm sitting was one of London's busiest stretches of road.

This is what can be created by rethinking our cities.

My elderly family members really struggled in the heat this year, and I've seen how it takes them days to feel better as the weather cools.

These are impacts of our climate emergency. Note the UK rank in the graphics.

🚲🚲🚲 The annual Cargo Bike Cruise in London yesterday - what an afternoon!

Our latest analysis shows that diesel vans are now the biggest road source of NOx pollution in central London. Shifting to cargo bikes is one of the key ways to get those dirty diesels off our streets. 1/

This summer, there were 83 wildfires across London - over *three times* as many as in the summer of 2020.

The climate crisis is on our doorstep. I am determined to do everything possible to ensure we are prepared for the ongoing impact of wildfires and extreme heat.

The race is on for everyone, everywhere to breathe clean air.

On #CleanAirDay my message is simple: the race against air pollution can - and must - be won.

Get it right and we can stop over 8 million premature deaths each year.
