WATCH: Trump’s lawless Ice goons shoot an unarmed priest in the head with a pepper ball. Completely out of control.

Looks like fascism to me

I feel like this photo of masked, armed men pepper spraying a pastor protecting his community is going to be a defining picture of this moment in America for a long, long time.

You can joke about Pam Bondi’s ridiculous unprofessionalism all you want, but I’m deeply shocked by it: She acts as if she fears absolutely no consequences, convinced that there will be no more political power transfers. — This should shake everyone to their core.

"Fascist regimes have classic, telltale traits, like vilifying immigrants, adopting patriotic symbolism of their nation’s glorious past, and embracing a narrow definition of masculinity and family values. But just because we also do all of those things does not make us fascists."
We Are Not Fascists, and If You Call Us Fascists, We Will Arrest You

Under the Third Reich, most Germans generally lived in the law-bound normative state, while Jews and other disfavored people were victims of the arbitrary and violent prerogative state.

The dual state is characterized by the facade of normalcy obscuring the fact of an authoritarian state.
The “dual state” theory was invented to describe Nazis. The Supreme Court could take us there.
Authoritarianism—but make it look like the rule of law.

It’s boiling in October because you’re using ChatGPT to write your emails, Janice.

Feeling pretty blah today so made apple crumble for comfort food. As you do.

People have started taking some plants and other things from house as I slowly pack up and put stuff in storage. Lots of feelings about it today. If you think it’s easy to move across the world not once but twice in a life time, it’s really not.

Yeah it’s not clear but basically you want to pick up one for every stitch on your live needle. But I tend to do a “pick up and knit” so then it aligns immediately IYKWIM

The lexapro is not cutting it today

Sorry I should have included you in the reply! Also it doesn’t matter what it looks like because it’s on the inside but if you pick up through the back of the loops on the wrong side of the fabric and knit that with a Corresponding stitch on your live needle you’ll be fine!

This is a hard one to explain in words, that explanation is not good. It’s the same process for making a folded hem - helped by knitting a purl row on the folding edge then knit req rows after that, fold inward, then you pick up stitches from the inside and knit together with live to make a tube.

Pondering this sentence makes it obvious why so many tech bros still live in their mother’s basement….. 👀

That's a very dismissive construct of LLMs, IMHO. Yes they are stochastic and yes they are 'robotic' but here's a sentence for you to ponder:

Humans are just advanced language output algorithms that spit out returns based on input and their reference library.

I don’t even use that word when I’m teaching that history without a lot of context and air quotes.

It is morally wrong to want a computer to be sentient. If you owned a sentient thing, you would be a slaver. If you want sentient computers to exist, you just want to create a new kind of slavery. The ethics are as simple as that. Sorry if this offends

But yes tell me again how this is all about combatting anti-semitism. I keep waiting for people to realise they’ve been played but then I remember they like it this way.

Heard an officer say "let's do it" and then, in the dark, they tackle Rabbi Ben to the ground. He's being loaded into a CCSO wagon now. Broadview police also here screaming at people.

student: oh so that’s when the whole country realized they were living under fascism

teacher: haha what? oh no lol not at all. no.
