Some people are responding to criticisms of this as if people were saying “impeachment is obviously the right strategy.” No. The point is that “impeachment isn’t the right strategy because the GOP may start to be responsible” is an unfathomably stupid and insulting lie.
Asked about the possibility of impeachment, Schumer says "we hope that we can have support from our Republican colleagues to put a brake on this long before it gets that far"

Democratic leadership is hopeless. Our leaders are spineless cowards who are completely inadequate to the moment. Schumer, Jeffries, and that crowd have to go. It's time for the likes of @aoc.bsky.social, @ilhanmn.bsky.social, @govpritzker.illinois.gov, @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social to get a chance.

@schumer.senate.gov, what exactly still has to happen before it gets that far?

I understand we don't have the majority needed to impeach the man. But my God, man! What do you hope to accomplish with this weak, pathetic, statement?

@hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, this is the statement you should have made.
Deputy Chair @repilhan.bsky.social : “Trump’s invasion of Venezuela is blatantly illegal and unconstitutional. He has no authority to deploy U.S. forces into foreign countries to bomb them, capture heads of state, and overthrow governments in regime-change wars.”

I've been re-listening to The History of Rome podcast by the great @mikeduncan.bsky.social . Does the website still exist? The last link I found was at Typepad and is defunct (along with the platform itself).

Republicans don't actually hate socialism. They hate socialism that helps anyone that they don't like.
finally! the government is sending a big fat check to farmers. how was trump the first person to come up with this amazing idea?

Democrats seem unable to conceptualize how to fight MAGA in today's media environment. Or even that they should. Sticking to their economic message is important but it can't be the only message. The nasty stuff that they don't want to engage with is important too. Even if it is distasteful.

Tim Walz and other democrats should claim that Trump’s growing dementia is causing him to verbally attack female reporters. Make the media debate whether it is Alzheimer’s or whether Trump is just an asshole.
The other reporters in the White House press corps are apparently waiting until the president actually takes a swing at one of their female colleagues before they say anything

What the fuck is he talking about? The FCC's Fairness Doctrine, which required broadcasters to "devote time to contrasting views on public importance issues" was repealed in 1987 when, wait for it... , Ronald Reagan was President and Republicans controlled the Congress. Seriously, fuck this guy.
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr said broadcast TV licenses could be revoked if stations don't serve their public interest obligations.

The FCC has never defined the term "public interest," and critics say Carr has weaponized that requirement to fulfill political agendas.

As soon as Democrats get back into power, one of our first tasks should be to tear down the Trump ballroom and restore the East Wing. Is it the most substantial thing we can do? No. But it will send a strong signal that we are taking the country back.

Really, @nytimes.com You can't say feces? For god's sake, isn't it time to stop being so cutsie with MAGA? It is what it is and you do the country a disservice when you won't name it openly.

This is really not true. Jefferson actually owned slaves. Kirk just thought slavery was a good thing.

The Fed is independent of the President so they can make decisions for the long-term success of the economy. Makes sense. But how do they define "success"? Who wins & who loses in their successful economy? Does anyone know? Have we traded one controlling interest for another, less transparent, one?

Some corporations have said they are absorbing the higher costs that result from Trump's tariffs but they're not sure how long they can do so. I'd like to know why they didn't display this same community spirit when inflation drove costs up during Biden's administration. 1/2

FFS. I watched the interview. That headline is 100% misleading as a description of what the man said. WTF, @nbcnews.com? Democracy dies in bullshit corporate news.
Welker asks: "Do you condemn that phrase, 'Globalize the intifada,' which a lot of people hear as a call to violence against Jews?"

"There's no room for antisemitism," Mamdani replies. But "I don't believe that the role of the mayor is to police speech in the manner especially ... of Donald Trump."

This is bad history. There were 8 Colonels from Virginia in the pre-Civil War US army. Robert E. Lee was one of them. Of those 8, only Lee resigned to join the Confederacy (after a brief stint in the Virginia state militia). The other 7 stayed true to their oaths and fought for the union.
