Bad biblical scholar, bad theologian, bad philosopher, bad historian... maybe a decent educator.

Opinions my own.

I just don't have many words for how terrible today is.

What I can say is that we are witnessing the beginning of a presidency defined solely by its desire to destroy community.

The best we can do is build it.
If the last few weeks are any indication, the Packers are about to go off.

That's how this works, right?

The Republican stance that "in order to make healthcare more expensive we are going to keep food from those who need it most" is certainly something.

Looks like the Packers immunized themselves against Rodgers.

We're watching resegregation happen in real time. This is modern post-reconstruction policy that will further entrench white supremacy.
An AP analysis finds drops in the number of Black freshmen at many elite colleges in the two years since the Supreme Court’s decision ending affirmative action.

Working for the Church means I get to hear the phrase, "Gosh bless it!" more than most.

And I truly feel blessed by Gosh for that.

I am so happy to share the result of so many folks' good work.

If you are looking for a resource to introduce your community to intersectional justice or are just curious in the justice ministries of the ELCA, I hope you will take the time to enjoy "Intersections."

Nature's greatest. 🦫💪
In Minnesota, beavers have long been considered a nuisance, thanks to their ability to gnaw trees and construct dams that sometimes clog culverts, raise lake levels or flood roads. But among scientists, there’s a growing recognition that these engineers bring a host of environmental benefits.
As nature’s ‘ecosystem engineers,’ beavers could help fight effects of climate change
Beaver dams reduce flooding, create wetlands that boost biodiversity and can even slow wildfires. But bringing back beavers would require a shift in public attitude — and finding ways for humans and beavers to coexist.

The fact that there are human beings who see children--maybe their own, maybe mine--and pretend to care about them... and then just give up and assume nothing can be done to end gun violence, makes me so mad.

Your hopelessness breeds violence.

I see football season is back.
From @theathletic.com: The long-anticipated Travis Kelce-Taylor Swift podcast crossover is set to air on Wednesday night. It’s sure to be a first-of-its-kind, as Swift has steered mostly clear of podcast interviews in recent years.
With Taylor Swift as guest, Kelce brothers’ podcast could reach ‘New Heights’
The Kelce-Swift podcast crossover, which has been a long time coming for fans who follow the couple, will happen Wednesday night.

I don’t think anyone is prepared for what they just did w/ ICE.

This is not a simple budget increase. It is an explosion - making ICE bigger than the FBI, US Bureau of Prisons, DEA,& others combined.

It is setting up to make what’s happening now look like child’s play. And people are disappearing.

Just gonna float a campaign slogan, free of charge, for anyone running for office against a Republican in 2026:

"I don't want you to die."

The GOP is willfully killing people.

They know it.
Thank you to Stacy for sharing her story - and for doing what any parent would do to make sure their daughter has the care she needs to live at home.

As this bill on GOP Medicaid cuts goes back to the House, it’s not too late to remind Washington politicians just how much is at stake.

I ache for Trump voters this morning.

I know the audience on this app is likely not in Donald Trump's target electoral demographic. For that reason, I highly recommend you publicly express the following to anyone in your life who is in that population, even if you feel it partially:

I cannot stress this enough: the road ahead is long and difficult.

What I do know, from my location at the intersection of the church, education, and organizing is that building and strengthening community is the best way to combat regimes dedicated to sowing mistrust.

Trump still would have won in 2024 even if everyone had turned out to vote, Pew finds
In 2024, 64% of the eligible-voting population turned out, the second highest in 120 years. New data show that even if all those voters who stayed home had voted, Trump would still be president today.

A sovereign nation bombs another sovereign nation in order to degrade the latter's ability to wage war.

Why are we even asking the question?
