We don't have tons of responses from Monmouthshire (or Powys) but based on what we have, I'd say it's not used as much as in the Valleys but it's defintely still there. The map shows the rates across all of Wales by county.
Map of Welsh counties showing the rates of bother with compared to spend time with. Yellow and orange show high rates while purple and violet show low rates. The yellow bits are concentrated on the Valleys.

regrettably if you try to point this out online you'll get yelled out by 79208 journalists going OH SO YOU WANT JOURNALISTS TO STARVE??? even if you're, say, a journalist yourself, and point out that while there are clearly no easy answers, the status quo isn't exactly working for society

I’m confused cos I’ve only heard hazelnut but apparently the U.K. term is filbert. Are they all using it when I’m not in the room?
(Nutella is definitely with hazelnuts)

I'm still plotting how to get the mainly Valleys form 'bother with' in the sense of be friends with/hang out with into the dictionary. Next time? #WelshEnglish

You're very welcome! I would have contributed sooner, but it's been a super busy month (with two conferences so mostly good busy rather than just start of year busy 😀)

Anyone shocked that Reform plan to deport immigrants with Indefinite Leave to Remain hasn’t been paying attention.

Next it will be stripping citizenship from dual citizens, then deporting them.

Who do you think Reform are?

This.

This is who they are.

Currently listening to the rain pour down. I live in Wales, you say, what do I expect?
The thing is I’m in Amsterdam 🤣

I don't think that's so far from where I lived when I was little. It's so upsetting (and I'm not even anywhere nearby anymore)

German speaking friends, please help me out. How would you translate Marilyn Frye's "double bind" into German? I found "Doppelbindung", "Zwickmühle", but that both sounds profoundly wrong to me. Any ideas?

If there were ever a time for white Americans to learn a language besides English and speak it loudly in public, it's now.
