Well in short it seems that it does not, even when accounting for relationship quality. Results for future expectations offer a potentially brighter picture. What buffers loneliness for asexuals? We’re speculating, but maybe platonic queer friendships. Check out the preprint! osf.io/preprints/os...

Was a pleasure to see @zoppolat.bsky.social once again present our work testing whether romantic relationship involvement buffers loneliness for asexuals as it has been shown to do for heterosexuals and other sexual minorities at the IARR mini conference in London. Curious about the results?…

We (a group of Dutch researchers) wrote an opinion article calling to protect academic freedom and research on sex and gender. The article was co-signed by over 300 academics, healthcare professionals and stakeholders, and it was published in a national newspaper (de Volkskrant) today!

Also luckily we’re not doing this work in the States 🇺🇸 so we’re still allowed to ask questions about gender apparently.

Do women or men experience more loneliness? Is this even how we should think about #gender and #loneliness? In a new piece w/ Manuela Barreto & Marlies Maes we take stock of the field and point toward new ways of thinking about gender and loneliness. nyaspubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

I remember being sceptical reading some papers from the early 2000’s on rapid effects of androgens. And now several recent papers have now described membrane receptors for androgens (see also doi.org/10.1126/scis...)! And one already has an agonist!

Often studies included psych functioning, qual of life, and other measures related to GAMT but not necessarily direct targets of care. Even assessment of gender dysphoria/incongruence, a potentially obvious target, was inconsistent. There is need for community-involved work to help direct research.
dsquared.bsky.social
Skye and Ezra did an admirable job summarizing and examining measures and outcomes in the adolescent chapter of WPATH standards of care. Qual analysis revealed themes related to implicit narratives of ‘improvement’ to justify GAMT for adolescents.
