Heard an interview today where a guy said (and I'm paraphrasing) "LLMs have had years to train on every aspect of chess, read every book and article about it, review every match, but when they play, they STILL makes illegal moves. That tells you everything."

My kid can't choose which shoes to wear during the day without consulting ChatGPT. In a decade or two, the world is going to be pretty screwed. Never before has so much rested on the shoulders of teachers to output functioning human beings. Let's double their fucking salaries.

It's ridiculous that when selling domestic batteries, it is not compulsory to publish the capacity. This leaves us unable to compare value for money from one brand to another, or to know whether it's worth spending the extra money to get a 'Max', 'Plus' etc.

Software engineer here. It was pretty obvious the volume of spam calls was going to go through the roof with AI being ubiquitous. So I always try some prompt injection when they call me. Proudest achievement was a 3 minute recital of the digits of pi.

Dress socks being the thinnest type of men's socks makes no sense. They should be some of the thickest to account for the hard leather of formal shoes.

Public libraries should grow in number and size in proportion to an area's population. New housing is great but only if there's also a public lending library with a good stock of books, journals, music, and tools. And librarians. It's not a library without librarians.
