Ohhhhh boy.

At least they had a bit of self-awareness though.

"Humans aren't people. They can't be trusted."
"But Dad, aren't YOU a human?"
"No, of course not."

I don't actually speak German. I've only met one of my ancestors who did, and he apparently had forgotten most of it by the time I met him.

Fine fine, cheesy but *traditional* .

If this were a Snow White derivative I'd accept it as cheesy but clever. However, this book is explicitly a Red Riding Hood derivative so.... ???

Judging by the things that happen after this, I don't think it had that much thought put into it.

Pretty sure it was just because it was just before the holidays. They weren't totally out, just they only had half-gallons that I'd never be able to use before I left and would expire before I came back.

It's okay in fancy-coffee but still flatter than real milk.

Did you encounter The Animal Crossing Mod. 😅

It's called Grumpy/Sunshine and it is so very much a Thing people like. XD

But if I read a good book then how will I complain about it on the internet?

At this point I think I'm just running through to see what other WTF elements are in here.

Either this is a weirdest form of debt indenture I've ever encountered or the author doesn't know/care how debt indenture works.
Anyway he's now acquired 3 more slaves, the elf girl was in his bed in the morning, and he's committed manslaughter and then been let off because he's the protagonist.

Thanks, I will have to look at these.

I did read a few books of both He Who Fights and DC Carl before dropping them for various reasons, so definitely similar types are good.
January 5, 2026 at 4:00 AM
OMFG he just accidentally acquired a female elven slave because OF COURSE he did what even IS this nuclear waste spill of a book
January 5, 2026 at 3:52 AM
In as much as your profile declares you an author of the genre, I have an inkling of what books your list might contain. XD

I would be interested in candidates. In general I have discontinued them either because someone (author, protagonist) was an ass or because of too little story.

Also kind of getting annoyed that the protagonist never fails at anything even when he explicitly has no idea what he's doing.

Hmm. Do your headphones have a built-in mic?
