How is this an "experiment"? I hate it but it's not going to stop me watching the rugby, it's just going to make me cross about it.

On a related note, I like how MAGA have organised their own Superbowl halftime show cos they can't bring themselves to actually boycott the game properly.

She has been married to both men and women so I think we are all justified in appreciating her 🌈

Not me trying to deliberately engineer the conversation round to the subject of unusual body odour... 🤷‍♂️

Jet from the original series sometimes used to come in to the diner where my mate worked. As 16 year old boys this was incredible news.

I'm good at setting up systems of organisation, less good at maintaining them.

And memory is too cheap. I keep meaning to sort out my files and photos, by the time I get round to it it's usually time to upgrade my device, capacity has doubled and there's no need.

Sorry to correct but it was a she, Joy Buolamwini, and her work was ahead if its time and exceptional.

"Joy Buolamwini’s discovery that facial recognition does not see dark-skinned faces accurately..."

She wrote a book too that's highly recommended.

It was definitely a he that I saw, on the Christmas lectures a few years ago but of course that only serves to demonstrate the breadth of the issue.

I've not heard of Joy Buolamwini so thanks, that looks interesting, I'll give it a read.

Oh Lordy. Of all the devices you must have handled with care in the course of your career I bet this was high up the list.

I'm really making an effort to declutter the flat so my ADHD can find things and get on with stuff, but my autism won't let me throw anything out.

Remember that black facial recognition expert whose software couldn't recognise *his own face*? It struggles with the lack of contrast on non-white skin*.

Not what's happened here by the look of it but still, it demonstrates the limits of the technology.

(*Black don't crack 🤷‍♂️)

The deity has decided that my penance is building a solar robot with a 6yo. We are missing one tiny screw because of course we are.

Getting an ADHD 6yo to focus on the workings of a mini gearbox while I, an ADHD adult hunt for a lost screw is... challenging. (There is also an ADHD 10yo with us...)

(OK, the last time I made this joke the ADHD deity came for me in a big way so consider this a pre-emptive apology and please don't disappear anything I briefly put down today. Amen)
