Same, I’ve been struggling recently with people either just now discovering how important good specification writing is for good software; or just fighting me on how its pretty much the only way to accelerate agentic assistants in development.

Putting this on main was a choice.

alas - “cache invalidation” is still hard =(

I’m still working through how i might achieve the bigger goal which is a “local first” shared fact system for development across branches with merging. (I don’t like the term memory for this because its meant to be more about the “current state of what is real”).

I actually started the explorer as an MCP server initially but found that claude was weirdly hesitant to call it unless i specifically told it to which was kind of “against” the ux flow i was looking floor. I did put explicit switches in to control the router (simple regex).

A little off topic but you two might find this a mildly interesting/ useful even just as parts for other things.

I've been waffling between this and an analogy of an a la cart menu and it seems to be landing ok with groups that are less knowledgeable of agent internals.

this is my biggest complaint about the whole field, its been non stop rebranding every 3 years for the last decade and a half; and i’m so tired.

Yeah its a fear of mine as well at the same time I think as society "catches up" other signals will catch on and I've got a decade to figure it out so I'm lucky there i guess.

At the same time I've got multiple anecdotal interactions of professionals doing the exact same thing so maybe it's as simple as intellectually lazy people finally have a crutch good enough they think they can get away with less/ little effort more now?

I do wonder if much of this is due to the schools selection process, I could imagine selective schools seeing less of it generally than say a commuter school or guaranteed acceptance style admission. The commodification of the degree has warped people's idea of what it means to actually earn it.

Paired with my recent learning of three cueing being taught and ill say this person is a saint for their compassion.
ever since I learned about three-cueing I've developed infinitely more patience for replies on social media. mfers literally do not know how to read. people are walking around conjuring random meanings into words they don't know, and they don't know a lot of words. it's crazy
