This winter, high end numbers (12%) of Influenza-associated encephalitis (IAE), including acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE) reported among children dying from #influenza. Vaccines were 63-78% effective this season. Only 1 of 5 of the children dying were vaccinated. shorturl.at/i3fQt

The rate of confirmed #influenza hospitalisations in the United States is the highest in at least 15 seasons (as far as Report data extends).
Latest data from US CDC to end of Week 6 (08-FEB-2025). That's a week ago of course.

With #measles cases increasing in 2025, and according to estimates from 2022, 9.1 million children 0-18 years (13%) were susceptible due to incomplete or no vaccination. Time for a "catch up" campaign with vaccines to prevent thousands of hospitalizations this spring and summer.

As of last week, there were 14 #measles cases in the US, most in #Texas, 100% unvaccinated. Last year we finish with 285 cases (480% increase from 2023) - 58% older than 5 years, 89% unvaccinated and 40% hospitalized. The big spike will come in the spring.
