I had no idea how much anger I could feel until I found my little brother. Now, I understand what was stolen from us. Society shames adoptees for feeling angry. If you aren't angry about systemic child abuse, corruption, and violations of human rights, maybe it's time to ask why. #adoption 🥚

13 years. One incredible life chapter 🌭✨. Korea’s Truth & Reconciliation Commission recently confirmed my adoption was a violation of human rights. So I’m stepping away from competitive eating to focus on advocacy and healing. Thanks for being part of my story—from the first bite and beyond 💫

13 years. One incredible life chapter 🌭✨. Korea’s Truth & Reconciliation Commission recently confirmed my adoption was a violation of human rights. So I’m stepping away from competitive eating to focus on advocacy and healing. Thanks for being part of my story—from the first bite and beyond 💫

My adoptive mother split my original name into syllables, then added her name to one of them. My name meant "beautiful blossom 🪷." Now, it roughly translates to "do things with emotional difficulty 😢." My name became my reality 🥚

I don't know much about my Korean family. I don't know my parent's names or faces. But my adoption papers say my father is from Gwangju, where citizens fought not so long ago for the democracy we have today. This morning, I am proud to be a daughter in the Land of the Morning Calm 🇰🇷.
