Beautiful early autumn day in the garden and still lots of insects around. It helps having late flowering plants and wildflowers. Bristly ox-tongue and asters still going strong, as well as scabious and ice plants. Ivy flowers are just coming out.

This arson attack took place in Sussex where I live.
Solidarity with the Muslim community.
The Green party’s co-deputy leader, Mothin Ali, said police needed to “urgently seek clarity” on the motives of the attack & whether it also constituted an act of terrorism

📢 Lugg Meadow, the UK’s largest remaining Lammas meadow, is under threat from housing plans. A rare habitat, rich in wildlife and tradition, could be irreversibly damaged.

🚫 We’ve objected to the proposal. Now it’s your turn.
👉 Have your say: https://loom.ly/-yNvG6g

We are deeply saddened by & condemn the attack at the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue.

Acts of violence have no place in our society. Politicians & the media must ensure their actions in the following days don't stoke division further.

We must focus on the humanity that connects us all.
Image reads: living free from violence is a human right. everyone has the right to practise their religion or belief, and visit their place of worship without the fear of being attacked.

Sounds great, but it’s disappointing that you don’t accept self-published novels. You could be missing some great stories!

Tragic 😢
The wildlife there have existed for thousands of years and the wall will sever populations in half, preventing prevent animals – including the endangered jaguar – from migrating to find food and mates, which could mean their eventual extinction.

A wonderful poet. RIP #brianpatten
“I was one of the last children to read at my primary school. There was quite a violent, tense background at home … such claustrophobia. I just started writing to get things down, since there was no one to speak to.”

Not great photos but think these were a pair of stonechats on the seedheads at the West Parade greenspace #Worthing. Never seen any here before. Shows that #rewilding even small areas works.

Keir Starmer's aides are reportedly telling him not to go to the COP30 climate conference, because Reform would attack him for it.
Yes, they might.
And he should wear it as a badge of honour.
Standing up for humanity, for science and a habitable planet.
Where's the hazard in that?
