This is the worst part, for me. The tendency to "choose the other guy" eventually will mean Carney is probably replaced by a conservative. At least if he was in blue, the pendulum wouldn't swing farther right when hes done.

Well enough to be hired by a major team. So take that bias however you'd like, fair to criticize me for having it. To me the cycling media space is better for having their voices in it, even if one is employed by a team. Though a top teams strategy guy doing a strategy pod IS odd, I admit, haha.

I just dont think its like, a big issue. And sure I may be biased because I like the pod and credit it for a lot of my more involved cycling knowledge vs surface level knowledge before, and as a fan i find it cool that a guy who just started sharing his analysis online came to know the sport

Yeah and I agree and I think they too agreed afterward that it was egg on their face and they got that one wrong, and now here we are. Im saying they bungled it at one point and have been clear since and when you cant change the first mistake being clear since is all you can do. 🤷‍♂️

at but its not exactly a state secret that Patrick works for Visma.

I mean ultimately they were the ones who declared it, no? They declared it after they had done consulting work, not before, and there was a reasonable backlash to that and they've been open about it ever since but should they be saying it at the start of every pod and vid? I get what youre getting

I get that it may turn some people off the channel, and that's totally fine and very reasonable, but I dont think its some bombshell I guess is what im saying.

And I dont feel like the content really changed from before to after, which helps me feel comfortable that the rest of the analysis is pretty candid. You just have to keep in mind who youre listening to. Every pundit has biases, his are just known. 🤷‍♂️

I mean, I dont see it as inherently unethical. If you accept that he won't be fully candid about Visma the rest of the analysis has always seemed no more biased than any other sports analysts, to me. Its not like hes using it as some psy-op to plant bad tactics into other teams minds.

I'd also like to add that pushing vaccine only guidance can actually lead to vaccine hesitancy, because people are (predictably) STILL GETTING SICK with flu/Covid/etc and then they draw the conclusion that the vaccines are ineffective or not worthwhile.

How many of us have to die until then? How many injuries, how many close calls, how many people stop riding their bike or never start, for fear of dangerous drivers on streets engineered to kill? And how should we believe they would ever actually build something in *2029*?

Alberta had already agreed to the $170 pricing schedule. Then they retracted support this year. Now we're pretending we're getting something new from them in exchange for dismantling a whole suite of regulations which would have delivered way more reductions. Also Smith's support won't last long
