After three years of progress and promises, the Government appears to have shelved its plans to restore our precious chalk streams - some of the world's rarest wildlife habitats. Now, a public petition is urging them to reconsider - please sign it if you can: petition.parliament.uk/petitions/71...

For birders joining BlueSky, Jamie's post has some useful links to help you connect to the #UKBirding feed and a starter pack for UK birders.
In our own starter pack (top of profile) you'll find Berkshire and national birding and conservation accounts and a few other birders with active accounts.
Welcome to the UK Birding feed.

There are 21 Wildlife Trusts in the UK still to appear on Bluesky.

Yes, the number of followers here is still much smaller than on other platforms, but it's important to start building up now to have a resilient means of communication, as X and Facebook are increasingly under political influence.

Recommending to follow @altnps.bsky.social

A USA example of what could happen to conservation organisations and national parks here, and how to organise resilience against it.

Also shows the importance of building up followers now on independent social media.
