0-13 MHKs in a single General Election is very ambitious, as is contesting every constituency. Closest parallel might be the 1946 election, when the Manx Labour Party fielded 18 candidates, and secured 2 seats, but they had been a well established presence in Tynwald for decades.
The man behind dramatic bid to change the face of Manx politics with new party

I'm kind of glad I stayed on Facebook because some serious beef is currently kicking off over there between Lithuanian historians over Vytas Jankauskas's claims about the earliest mention of Lithuania 🍿

This is a really arresting way to look at how different our experience is from that of almost all our progenitors. An intriguing read.

I wrote about all the lived experiences and strange structures of modern society — many of which we take for granted — that were literally impossible for all previous generations of Homo sapiens. www.forkingpaths.co/p/we-are-dif...
We are different from all other humans in history
Countless experiences that have become routine for us are unprecedented in the history of our species. Here's why that matters.

It's not the Napoleonic sea battle reenactments that count so much as the French ships you make along the way.

Looking forward to Irene Bolam appearing prominently in the newly declassified Earhart files. The truth will out.

Looking forward to this very light hearted debate with ace Brookes colleague Chris Lloyd.

That is really interesting - quite a lot of the "physically impossible" debunking then becomes a non-issue, but presumably she doesn't use any of the arguments about photographs etc after the first landing? Not come across this version before.

This is interesting - a thorough Wikipedia explanation of the terminology used to denote “these islands”…

I tend to use “Britain and Ireland”, but accept thats problematical (eg the Isle of Man issue”)

Never in a month of Sundays would I say “the British Isles”

In semester 2 I’m teaching a new module on the Apocalypse & I see Christian fundamentalists in America are saying the Rapture is happening tomorrow. This means that I either don’t have to bother writing the new module, or I’ll have more material to include, so I guess it’s win-win for me either way.

2 hour walking tour of Oxford, talking about issues relevant to our criminal law course at a number of spots. From Robert Maxwell and "white collar crime" at Headington Hill Hall, to hanging survivor Anne Green at Gloucester Green, with lots in between. Really good fun.
